My first 6 months

As of August 1st, I have been the Rector of Church of the Nativity for six months. Someone asked me the other day if I was still having fun. Yes, I am happy to report I am still having fun. More importantly, though, I see the Holy Spirit at work in this place. And that gives me joy.

The presence of the Holy Spirit has been powerfully felt in the eight baptisms we have celebrated and in the four people who were received/confirmed and in the three who reaffirmed their baptismal vows. We celebrated the Holy Spirit gloriously on Pentecost.

Signs of the Holy Spirit abound. The Senior High are planning a work mission for winter break in February 2008. One of our elementary school youth is planning Sunday afternoon mission activities for the children. And new liturgies are emerging. A Jazz Mass is scheduled for October 21 at 5:00pm. You won't want to miss this.

In the midst of the busyness and planning, the Holy Spirit continues to move gently through our congregation as people care for one another.

We have much to be thankful for. We do indeed have a full and abundant life here. I feel blessed to be the Rector of Church of the Nativity.

It warms my heart to know that you are doing so well in your new parish, though you are still very much missed at St. Mary's. I was thinking of you after church today after talking with Mary Ann about children's formation for the coming year and got curious, and behold, I found your church and your blog!

It seems as though you've made quite a home for yourself...hope you don't mind if I check in now and then! I have missed your insights!

Shannon from St. Mary's! :~)

Hi Shannon,
It warms my heart that folks at St. Mary's are thinking of me. Please check in now and then; I check in on St. Mary's website from time to time too. Nativity is a great church; there is much to be thankful for. If you get a chance, email me a picture of the girls.
